Walt Disney’s first full-length cartoon in Cinemascope is a triumph for all ages.
The story of a romance between a dainty, well-bred pedigree cocker spaniel named Lady and a mutt named Tramp from the wrong side of town is one of Disney’s most appealing, imaginatively illustrated cartoon classics, and honey-dripping Peggy Lee singing the voice of Lady gives it special musical savvy.
Lady arrives as a Christmas present from Jim Dear to his wife, Darling, and enjoys a pampered lifestyle – until a baby arrives and she is pushed to the sidelines.
When Jim and Darling Dear decide to head off on holiday, cat-lover Aunt Sarah is called in to take care of the baby. And that spells bad news for Lady.
Framed by Aunt Sarah’s two Siamese cats, Lady finds herself out on her ear in the big, wide, bad world.
But she is befriended by Tramp, a free-spirited and kind-hearted mongrel who fights on her behalf, frees her from her muzzles and takes her out for a night on the town.
You can never grow too old to love this one.
