This Alabama band is most well-known for being Roy Orbison‘s backing group during the mid 60’s, but when they weren’t backing Orbison, they developed a serious reputation as a great live band in their own right.
They became known for performing The Beatles‘ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band live, amidst their other repertoire that was considered beyond the reach of most bands.
They also recorded a series of LPs for ABC Records. Some of the members later formed Atlanta Rhythm Section.
