New Dream was Australia’s foremost bubblegum pop band of the early 70s, following in the tradition of The Archies, Ohio Express and The 1910 Fruitgum Company.
The band formed as The Dream in 1967 when singers Alex Kadell and Jenny Johnson joined forces with a group called The Final Four.
Changing their name to New Dream in March 1969, the band signed with Festival Records and issued the singles Yours Until Tomorrow and Catching Up On Fun. Their first national hit was Groupie (March 1970).
Their next three singles, Soft Delights (May 1971), Candy Love (Sept 1971) and Turned 21 (March 1972) all made the Australian charts.
