This sitcom had a huge gap in between runs. It was originally a live DuMont Network sitcom in 1953/54. A filmed version with the same cast was made by Desilu Productions and seen in syndication in 1958/59.
All the new episodes were remakes of the original 39 episodes.
English gentleman Colonel Humphrey Flack (Alan Mowbray) was the consummate old-school con-man.
A smooth-talking grifter, he conned other con men and swindled other swindlers at every opportunity then gave most of the money to the needy. Naturally, he retained a small amount to “cover expenses”.
Flack’s sidekick and accomplice, Uthas P. (“Patsy”) Garvey was played by Frank Jenks.
The series was based on a popular series of short stories by Everett Rhodes Castle published in the Saturday Evening Post.
