The Facts We Face was initially a five-week series designed to inform the American public of the impact of the then-current Korean War mobilisation on their lives.
The CBS show covered the selective service, production and allocation of resources and manpower, rationing, economic prospects, and civil defence through filmed reports and interviews.
Following its primetime run, the series moved to Sunday afternoons. It returned to nighttime television during the following summer, with Walter Cronkite as moderator and a new title, Open Hearing.
