Former Union cavalry major Bart McClelland (Jeff Morrow) supervises rail construction for the Union Pacific railroad company west of Omaha, dealing with everything from marauders and Indians to land issues, unscrupulous politicians, the elements, and a lack of supplies.
He’s aided by his former army buddy, surveyor Billy Kincaid (Judson Pratt) and the beautiful but world-wise Georgia (Susan Cummings), who runs the mobile Golden Spike saloon, which is housed in a fancy railroad car which follows the railhead.
Veteran character actor JM Kerrigan appears as Dr Fergus, a crusty old Scottish doctor who divides his time between good deeds and bad poker.
