1 9 6 4 – 1 9 6 5 (UK)
13 x 30 minute episodes
The first series of Roy Kinnear’s BBC series World Of His Own aired in July and August 1964 which meant the viewing audience was much smaller than hoped – they were all inconsiderate enough to be outside in the fresh air or abroad on holiday, enjoying themselves.
The second series was scheduled, instead, for January and February 1965, and regularly attracted over six million viewers.
Kinnear played absent-minded dreamer Stanley Blake, with Anne Cunningham as his wife, Helen. Stanley’s vivid imagination dreamt up all kinds of unlikely scenarios – and so in one episode alone, he became the Prime Minister, Lady Godiva’s husband and a Stone Age Briton.
Guests who appeared in the 13 episodes included Deryck Guyler, John Junkin, Julian Orchard, Kenneth Cope, Kenneth Kendall, Arthur Mullard and Bryan Pringle.
The theme music was by Lionel Bart.
