Having Babies was introduced as an hour-long series by ABC after three made-for-TV movies – Having Babies (1976), Having Babies II (1977) and Having Babies III (1978) – had been telecast.
Dr Julie Farr (former Playboy bunny Susan Sullivan) was a busy obstetrician at St Lake General Hospital, where many of her patients were either expectant mothers or new parents. She also had a private practice at 13471 East La Brea.
She also had a splendid condominium on the beach.
Mitchell Ryan co-starred as her veteran surgeon co-worker Dr Blake Simmons, with Dennis Howard as young intern Dr Ron Danvers, and Beverly Todd as receptionist Kelly Williams.
Each episode featured two or three mini-stories, a la The Love Boat. Midway through its limited run, the show’s title was changed to Julie Farr MD as the emphasis shifted from specialised to generalised medical drama. A few additional episodes were televised during the summer of 1979.
