This spin-off from 1969 show Department S continued the adventures of hedonistic, womanising dandy Jason King.
After leaving ‘Department S’, Jason has settled down to a full-time career of writing his trashy Mark Caine novels.
He philanders his way around the world, doing research for his stories and tripping over a variety of odd (often verging on surreal) cases, usually involving beautiful women.
He is occasionally blackmailed into working for British Intelligence to help them solve crimes, under the threat of being arrested for unpaid back taxes.
Jason King is arguably the ultimate 70s man – He was seldom seen without a glass of wine in his hand and a crushed velvet jacket on his back.
King believed women had their place – prone! He also once said; “whenever I feel the urge to exercise, I have a good lie-down until it passes”.
Nicola Harvester was King’s publisher, Sir Brian and Ryland the men from the ministry who blackmailed him into working for them.
