Maggie Brooks (Julia McKenzie) is a divorced teacher who lives on her own in a flat.
But she is never really alone – thanks to her exasperatingly impossible neighbour, Mrs P (Irene Handl).
In the first episode of the series from London Weekend Television, Maggie aroused the interest – and ire – of her neighbours when they noticed that George the window cleaner was spending a lot of time in her flat.
Suspecting the worst, they began a “Clean Up Maggie” campaign.
The series was based on a one-off play called Poppy and Her which was transmitted in August 1976.
The theme sung, written by Laurie Holloway, was sung by Julia McKenzie.
