1 9 8 5 – 1 9 8 6 (USA)
5 minute episodes
This five-minute series, broadcast twice a day during ABC’s Saturday morning cartoon schedule, featured exercises and tips for children designed to help them learn about and appreciate the benefits of physical fitness.
1984 US Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Mary Lou Retton hosted the series, assisted by four 10 to 13-year-old “ABC Funfit Kids” who performed exercises with her.
The non-strenuous workouts were designed by D. Keith Kleven, a physical therapist for the US Olympic team, and choreographed by Lynne Taylor-Corbett (who had worked on the 1984 film Footloose).
The major sponsor was Mcdonald’s (!)
