Debuting in March 1981, this no-budget ITV kids’ show was produced by Yorkshire Television in an attempt to provide “right on” teatime entertainment (as later parodied in the “Nozin’ Around” segment of The Young Ones.
The show featured jokes, sketches, cookery, roving reports, movie reviews, songs and some very amateur “ad-lib” acting and dancing from the eleven young presenters who included Ian Bartholomew, Liz Lewis and Olympic swimming star Duncan Goodhew.
Three episodes were taped in early 1981 as an experiment, followed by a further six shows (and a Christmas special) later that year.
The series returned in 1982, rebranded as Sunny Side Up with only Nicky Christian remaining from the original team.
