Debuting on 29 February 1988, this three-part gritty drama series from Scottish Television revolved around suave streetwise Glasgow bookmaker Danny Dawson (Maurice Roëves).
Danny wanted his reluctant son Johnny (John Hannah) to take on the running of one of his betting shops but the younger Dawson’s girlfriend, Sue (Julie Graham) wasn’t enamoured of the idea.

After some speculation about a second series, STV eventually opted to go ahead with another drama series combining sport and gambling instead. The three-part series Winners and Losers was set in the world of boxing.
