This ‘dramedy’ starred John Ritter (son of Western legend, Tex) as sensitive San Francisco cop Harry Hooperman, who inherited an apartment block – and a yapping little terrier called Bijoux – when his landlady was murdered.
His irate tenants proved to be as troublesome as his lady boss at work, the abrasive and demanding Captain ‘CZ’ Stern (Barbara Bosson).
Hooperman’s on/off relationship with tenant handywoman Susan (Debrah Farentino) offered scant solace.
Mo DeMott (Sydney Walsh) was a female officer dedicated to “saving” her handsome-but-gay partner Rick (Joseph Gian), Bobo (Clarence Felder) was the office redneck, and Betty (Alix Elias) the cheerful dispatcher.
Created by Steven Bochco and Terry Louise Fisher (the duo responsible for LA Law), Hooperman never really set the world alight in the popularity stakes.
