The Lukowski Construction Company in Queens, New York, is owned by Mike Lukowski (Robert Clohessy) and managed by Maria Navarro (Maria Conchita Alonso). Mike is a widower with three sons – Luke (Michael DeLuise), Nick (Justin Whalin) and Steve (Billy Morrissette) – and Maria is a beautiful motorcycle-riding Venezuelan girl.
The first four episodes focus on Mike and Maria’s courtship. They married in episode five and, had the series been renewed, it would have focused on what the sixth episode showed: Maria’s new position as a wife and business partner in the company.
Other regular characters included Maria’s friend, Bernice (Amy Aquino); client Vanessa (Melody Rogers) and Ernie (Dan Hedaya), one of the construction workers.
