A spin-off from Three’s Company, Three’s A Crowd was an adaptation of the UK series Robin’s Nest.

After years of living platonically with two female roommates and chasing after a succession of beautiful girls, Jack Tripper (John Ritter) finally found true love. He was smitten with pert flight attendant Vicky Bradford (Mary Cadorette).

When Jack’s roommates moved out, Jack decided it was finally time to get married but Vicky didn’t agree (because her parents’ marriage had been turbulent and ended in divorce).

She preferred that she and Jack live together in an apartment above ‘Jack’s Bistro’, the restaurant co-owned by Jack and Vicky’s wealthy and straitlaced father, James (Robert Mandan).

The fact that they were cohabiting but not married was a constant vexation to James Bradford, who would arrive unannounced as often as possible to disturb their extra-marital bliss.

Beach bum E.Z. (Alan Campbell) was Jack’s eccentric assistant chef. Jessica Walter was seen occasionally as Vicky’s mother, Claudia.

John Ritter died six days before his 55th birthday in September 2003, during surgery to repair an aortic dissection (a tear in the aorta that grows).
