This Australian medical soap opera was set in the (fictional) All Saints Western General Hospital in the (fictional) Sydney suburb of Clydesbridge.
Storylines focussed on the goings-on in Ward 17 (affectionately known as “the garbage ward” as it served as an overflow from all the other wards) and the lives of the nurses and doctors on the ward.
Ward 17 was run by a compassionate nun named Sister Terri Sullivan (Georgie Parker).
Her staff included her nurses Connor Costello (Jeremy Cumpston), “Von” Ryan (Judith McGrath), Bronwyn Craig (Libby Tanner), Jared Levine (Ben Tari) and Stephanie Markham (Kirrily White) and her ward clerk Jaz Hillerman (Sam Healy).
Luke Forlano (Martin Lynes) and Peter Morrison (Andrew McKaige) were doctors who frequently worked with Terri and her staff. Paramedic Ben Markham (Brian Vriends) also featured regularly.
When Ward 17 was closed down in 2004, the series switched focus to the staff of the Emergency Department.
Due to the shift, several cast members left the show, and the lead character of Terri Sullivan was written out in the eighth series.
As the ratings continued to fall, the Seven Network made further changes, introducing a medical response unit and renaming the show All Saints: Medical Response Unit.
The show was cancelled in July 2009.
