1 9 9 4 – 1 9 9 7 (USA)
70 x 30 minute episodes
An adult cartoon series that relates the exploits of Eric Duckman (voiced by Jason Alexander), a perpetually angry, crude and sexually-repressed duck who also happens to be a private detective. He is assisted by his paranoid but extremely competent pig partner, Cornfed Pig (Gregg Berger).
Duckman’s job is miserable and gives him nothing but heartaches, especially since he is never able to apprehend his archenemy, an evil, mad genius named King Chicken (Tim Curry).
At home, his life is not much better as he gets nothing but aggravation from an annoying family: Bernice (Nancy Travis), the shrill twin sister of his dead wife; his eldest son, Ajax (Dweezil Zappa), who has an IQ “in the high teens”; his two-headed son, Charles and Mambo (Dana Hill and Elizabeth Daily); and Grandmamma, his never speaking flatulent grandmother.
Fluffy and Uranus (Pat Musick) are Duckman’s pink and blue wide-eyed teddy bear office assistants, who he kills in most episodes.
The show – whose full title is actually Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man – was critically acclaimed and ran from 5 March 1994 to 6 September 1997.
Notable guests who voiced characters in the series included Burt Reynolds, Ed Asner, James Brown, John Astin, Roddy McDowall, Dom DeLuise, Ben Stiller, Ice-T, Bobcat Goldthwait, Teri Garr, Lisa Kudrow, June Lockhart, David Duchovny, Eugene Levy, Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, Joe Walsh, Dan Castellaneta, Heather Locklear, Paul Sorvino, Sandra Bernhard, Dana Delany, Leeza Gibbons, Janeane Garofalo, Carl Reiner, Ron Perlman, Sally Struthers, Sheena Easton, Jim Belushi, Coolio and David Rasche.
