The first series on Nickelodeon featuring a black family, My Brother and Me depicted life through the eyes of eight-year-old Dee Dee Parker (Ralph Woolfolk IV), who lived in a pleasant middle-class suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina with his parents Jennifer (Karen E. Fraction), a driver’s ed teacher and Roger (Jim R. Coleman) a sports-writer for The Charlotte News, and two siblings.
Dee Dee was still at the impressionable “gee whiz!” stage. He worshipped his supercool older brother, Alfie (Arthur Reggie III), though both of them were disdained by self-absorbed thirteen-year-old sister Melanie (Aisling Sistrunk).

Dee Dee’s best buddies were Harry (Keith “Bubba” Naylor) and Donnell (Stefan J. Wernli), while Alfie hung out with chubby Goo (Jimmy Lee Newman Jr.), a prankster who frequently got them into trouble while attempting to get himself off the hook by flattering adults.
Donnell’s sister Deonne (Amanda Seales) was Melanie’s friend.
Mrs Pinckney (Kym Whitley) owned the local comics store and was all too hip to the kids’ tricks.
A second season was planned, but the show was cancelled after only 13 episodes.
