Henry Pollard (future Severance star Adam Scott) had found minor success early in his acting career when he appeared in a well-known beer ad, but hadn’t been able to land a job since.
Finally, dispirited and broke, Henry decided to give up acting and rejoined Party Down, a small-time Los Angeles catering company where he had once worked.
For two seasons, Henry went from event to event playing the straight man to his oddball colleagues and clients, and nursing a crush on his insecure, aspiring comedian workmate Casey (Lizzy Caplan).
Party Down delighted in dropping its characters into increasingly uncomfortable and darkly humorous situations, constantly forcing them to re-evaluate their priorities.
Although the entire cast was superb, Jane Lynch was a standout as Constance Carmell, a manic, clueless former actress.
