Rumours abound about what may go on at a creepy mansion just out of town.
The house is owned by Dr Eric Vornoff who is conducting experiments to turn people into super-beings through the use of atomic power. Reporter Janet Lawton decides to look into what is going on there and the possible connection to men that have disappeared in the area.
Edward D. Wood Jr. began shooting this film – then called Bride of the Atom – in October 1954 on a tiny soundstage in Los Angeles called Ted Allan Studios. He ran out of money after just three days and had to shut down production.
The prop octopus was constructed for the John Wayne film Wake of the Red Witch (1948). It was stolen from the props room at Republic Studios, but the motor which controlled the tentacles was not stolen with it (as is obvious in the film). One of the tentacles was also torn off in the process of stealing it.
