Predating Straw Dogs by nine years, Crosstrap sees Geoff (Gary Cockrell) and his new wife Sally (Jill Adams) rent an isolated countryside cottage to enable Geoff to finish his latest book without any distractions.
Unfortunately, a group of gangsters led by Duke (Laurence Payne) have pulled off a jewel robbery (and a murder) and are using the house for a hideout and Geoff and Sally find themselves held captive.
Duke is immediately attracted to Sally, despite the presence of his attractive moll, Rina (Zena Marshall), who is willing to do anything he asks. Meanwhile, another group of rival gangsters are also in the area looking for the diamonds.
Mayhem ensues until most of the cast are killed or injured.
Director Robert Hartford-Davis became known as someone who rubbed the censors the wrong way and the final bloody shoot-out in Crosstrap is renowned as particularly graphic for its time.
Crosstrap was considered a “lost film” for many years but has since been made available for public viewing.
