Sailors Benny Linn (Groucho Marx) and Tim Dunnovan (William Bendix) are conned into buying a lame race-horse and go ashore to sort out the problem.
But when they realise the horse is one of a pair of identical twins, their plan for revenge becomes more complicated. Also trying to exploit the twin horses are shady trainer Garvey (Gene Lockhart), shady jockey Skeezer (George E. Stone), and gangster High Life (Teddy Hart).
Marie Wilson plays Jane Sweet, a dumb but stunning blonde.
A Girl in Every Port is one of the few solo efforts of Groucho Marx after 20 years of working almost exclusively with his brothers. It is probably one of the weakest films he was ever associated with.
