The effervescent vocals of General Norman Johnson did much to secure Chairmen Of The Board a major hit with Give Me Just A Little More Time in 1970.
The Virginian first tasted success with The Showmen in 1961, scoring a local hit in New Orleans with Allen Toussaint’s It Will Stand. When that band split in 1968 Johnson signed to Detroit’s Invictus label and formed Chairmen Of The Board.
General Johnson passed away in 2010.
