Rising from the ashes of the Wild Swans, Liverpool’s Lotus Eaters enjoyed instant commercial success with a fragrant pop song, The First Picture Of You, their debut single, reaching UK #15 in July 1983.
The band never managed to regain their Top 20 status, despite four catchy follow-ups: You Don’t Need Someone New (1983), Set Me Apart (1984), Out On Your Own (1984), and It Hurts (1985), and a well-crafted melodic debut album, No Sense Of Sin (1984).
Coyle and Kelly later reactivated the Wild Swans but were again unable to sustain significant interest. They made a surprise return to the studio in the new millennium to record a second Lotus Eaters album, Silentspace (2001).
