This pioneering New Zealand television music show was broadcast live from NZBC’s studios in Wellington, where a hundred or so teenagers were brought in each week to mob and dance around the stars.

Local group The Librettos originally formed the core of the show as the resident band. Another local group, The Pleasers (pictured above), later took over.

Let’s Go marked the beginning of producer Kevan Moore’s collaboration with Peter Sinclair – then a young Wellington radio disc jockey hosting the Sunset Show for 2ZB – and paved the way for later iconic shows like C’mon and Happen Inn.

Sinclair’s sharp suits, breathless enthusiasm, and smooth, professional delivery instantly resonated with teenagers, establishing him as the definitive face of New Zealand music television for the next decade.
