This weekly comedy/horror-themed comic from IPC Magazines began publication on 14 June 1975 and ran for just 73 issues before merging with Buster on 1 November 1976.
The Editor of Monster Fun was the green-faced neck-bolted ‘Frankie Stein’, a character originally created in 1964 for Wham! who appeared later in Shiver and Shake (1973-4) before spending over a decade in Whoopee!
Stapled into the centre of Monster Fun was a little booklet to “cut out and keep” called Badtime Bedtime Story. Each week, a classic fairy tale, book, film or TV show would be given a silly, surreal makeover. Examples included ‘Robinson Gruesome’, ‘Dr Jackal and Mr Snide’, ‘Doctor Poo’, ‘Space:999’, ‘Little Boy Glue’ and ‘Trouser Island’.
