The investigations of Ellery Queen (played initially by Richard Hart and then Lee Bowman, pictured above), a gentleman detective and writer living in New York City.
His policeman father, Inspector Richard Queen was played by Florenz Ames.
This ABC series was the earliest TV depiction of the famous Ellery Queen.
The detective was subsequently played by Hugh Marlowe in a 1954 syndicated series called Mystery Is My Business then by George Nader and Lee Phillips in the 1958-59 NBC series The Further Adventures of Ellery Queen, and finally, Jim Hutton in the 1974 NBC series.
