The adventures of Mickey Spillane’s tough-talking, brawling, skirt-chasing private detective Mike Hammer, who was always ready to use his fists to get the case solved.
Set in New York City, Mike (Darren McGavin) would go out of his way to help any “doll” or “dish” who was in trouble, even waiving his fee if necessary.
Mike had an office (Room 812) in Manhattan and lived in a hotel on West 47th Street. For research he used the newspaper morgues of the DailyNews at 220 East 42nd Street and the Chronicle.
The only other regular character was Mike’s friend, Pat Chambers (Bart Burns), a captain with the Homicide Division of the NYPD’s 19th Precinct.
