Originally a programme produced just for the Granada region, Nice Time proved so popular that it was extended to the whole ITV network.
It comprised a collection of wacky sketches and inventive stunts, built around viewers’ requests for favourite moments from comedy films.
The series is best remembered today for giving young DJ Kenny Everett his TV break, for promoting the then Warwick University lecturer Germaine Greer, and for being produced by future BBC Director-General John Birt.
Sandra Gough (ex-Coronation Street) joined the team in series two.
