Premiering on Friday 17 July 1964, this experimental ITV drama series presented seven plays, with each written in three parts by three different authors – hence the title of the series.
Writer A chose a theme and wrote a 15-minute play about it. He passed it to writer B, who followed with the second episode, connected in some way with the first. The two plays were then passed to writer C, who contributed the third part.
Michael Hastings, Hugh Leonard and Robin Chapman took it in turn to be A, B and C.

A repertory group of 11 actors – Peter Jeffrey, James Kerry, Philippa Gail, Clive Elliott, John Abineri, Barrie Gosney, Veronica Strong (pictured below left), Murray Hayne, Henry Lincoln, Ann Kennedy (pictured below right) and Madeleine Newbury – performed the plays.
Not to be confused with the 1980s El Cheapo wannabe glamorous soapie set on a passenger ferry on a triangular route between Felixstowe, Gothenburg and Amsterdam.
