In Autumn 1969, Anglia Television in Britain started their production of Wind In The Willows, an 18-part serialisation of Kenneth Graham’s magical story of the river bank and its lovable little characters.
While the stories were narrated by newscaster Paul Honeyman, the artist who brought the endearing characters of Ratty, Mole, Badger and Toad to life was John Worsley, a former Royal Navy officer and official war artist.
Such was the success of the production both at home and abroad, that other stories soon followed: The Winter Of Enchantment, A Christmas Carol, and later Treasure Island.
