1 9 7 3 – 1 9 7 4 (Canada)
13 x 30 minute episodes
This Canadian sitcom aired on Thursday nights from 4 October 1973 to 3 January 1974 and revolved around a woman named Delilah (Terry Tweed) who moved from the city to operate a (heavily mortgaged) barber shop in the small town of Egerton, Ontario – left to her by her late father – thus becoming that town’s first woman barber.
Barbara Hamilton co-starred as Aunt Peggy, who ruled supreme over the household, with Miles McNamara as Delilah’s teenage brother, Vince; Eric House as the local newspaper editor, TJ; and Peter Mews as the family’s fussy antique dealer friend, Franny .
Shows were taped live before a studio audience at CBC’s Toronto studios.
Even though the cast was strong, the writing was amateurish, the direction was shoddy, and the show received poor reviews.
This series lasted just one season and is retrospectively often cited as one of the worst Canadian TV comedies of all time.
