    26 x 10 minute episodes

Mumfie was a little elephant who lived in Pink Tree Forest with his Uncle Samuel, his friend Scarecrow, Mr Yogel the chess-playing giant and Natty Socks, a stockbroker who had become a tramp.

There were rascals at large though, in the form of The Lurkings and the Witch-Up-In-The-Sky, who was always trying to capture and take away Mumfie’s good manners.

Mumfie had been a favourite with children since the 1930s when he appeared in the first of seven books by Katherine Tozer.

He came to ATV in puppet form at lunchtime on Wednesdays thanks to Mary Turner and John Read whose puppet production company made The Adventures of Rupert Bear.

Narration and voices were provided by Judy Bennett and Charles Collingwood.
