This Saturday morning animated series from NBC – full title, Rick Moranis in Gravedale High – was set at the titular school for monsters where teacher Max Schneider (voiced by Rick Moranis) was the only human in the school.

Max had the unenviable task of teaching the basics to Cleofatra (voiced by Ricki Lake), Boneyard (Brock Peters), Sid the invisible kid (Maurice LaMarche), Frankentyke (Frank Welker), the Fonzie-like vampire Vinnie Stoker (Roger Rose), Gill Waterman, the son of the Creature from the Black Lagoon (Jackie Earle Haley), red-haired werewolf Reggie Moonshroud (Barry Gordon), zombie Southern belle Blanche (Shari Belafonte) and snake-haired “Duzer” (Kimmy Robertson) – short for Medusa – among others.

Ms Crone (Georgia Brown) was the headmistress, Miss Webner (Sandra Gould), Mr Tutner (Tim Curry) and Miss Dirge (Eileen Brennan) were other ghoul teachers, and Cadaver (Jonathan Winters) was the school’s athletic coach.

The students engaged in all of the normal sporting and social activities, blissfully unaware that they terrified everyone who set eyes on them.
