An update of the classic Make Room for Daddy, this ABC series continued to relate events in the life of nightclub entertainer Danny Williams (Danny Thomas) who is now a grandfather.
Danny is married to Kathy (Marjorie Lord). Terry (Sherry Jackson), Rusty (Rusty Hamer) and Linda (Angela Cartwright) are their children. Michael (Michael Hughes) is his six-year-old grandson (by Terry).
Charlie Halper (Sid Melton) is Danny’s boss, the owner of the Copa Club. Rosey Robbins (Rosey Grier) is Danny’s arranger and accompanist.
Uncle Tonoose (Hans Conried) is the head of the Williams family, and Henry (Stanley Myron Handleman) is the neurotic building elevator operator.
The show attracted big-name guest stars like Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, Diana Ross and Bing Crosby and featured lavish musical numbers.
But despite a prime timeslot – airing between Courtship of Eddie’s Father and Room 222 – the series flopped and was pulled before the end of the season.
