This Rankin-Bass production presented two separate cartoons based on characters created by famous children’s writer Kenneth Grahame.
The first was set in the English village of Willowmarch and concerned Tobias, a kindly dragon and Sir Malcolm Giles, a knight who was trying hard to convince residents of the village that the 400-year-old dragon was gentle and intended no harm.
Unfortunately, Tobias was allergic to the scent of daisies, resulting in disastrous fits of sneezing which produced plumes of flames.
A little blonde girl named Daisy used the fiery dragon to deter eager suitors.
Other regular characters included King Herman, Sir Andrew, and bumbling Vikings Ugliola and Irving the Bold.
The second cartoon was based on The Wind In The Willows and starred the venerable Mr Toad, Mole, Badger and their friends.
The series debuted on ABC on 12 September 1970.
