John Dally (John Bird) lives alone in a scruffy little flat in Earls Court (the set was a replica of Bird’s real-life Earls Court flat). He scrapes a living as a photographer and sculptor with a bit of detective work on the side.
His world changes when John Chance (John Fortune), an amiable would-be international jet-setting conman, rings his doorbell late one night and uses his charm and deception to persuade Dally to let him share his flat, convincing him they are old college pals from Cambridge.
Bird and Fortune wrote and performed the seven episodes for BBC2.
Guest cameos included Gorden Kaye, Bernard Bresslaw, Patricia Quinn, Joan Sanderson and Dennis Waterman.
