This LWT series premiered on ITV on Saturday 30 November 1985 at 7.15 pm with Bobby Davro leading a team of impressionists, including Gary Wilmot, Johnny More, A J Harvey, Allan Stewart, Dave Evans, Jessica Martin and Andrew O’Connor, in a lightning series of sketches and gags.

The debut show saw Gary Wilmot as Diana Ross, newcomer Andrew O’Connor as Kevin Turvey and Rowan Atkinson, and Bobby Davro teaming up with Dale Evans to embarrass Cleo Laine and Johnny Dankworth.

Other targets included Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Michael Jackson, Moira Stewart, Bonnie Langford, Freddie Mercury, Bruce Springsteen, Mollie Sugden, Patrick Moore, Anneka Rice, Hinge and Bracket, Bono, Billy Connolly, Dame Edna, Sue Pollard, Victoria Wood, Samantha Fox, Sarah Brightman, Madonna, Penelope Keith, Saint & Greavsie, Billy Idol, Toyah, Frank Bruno, Mary Whitehouse, Zola Budd, Gary Glitter and the cast of Star Trek, EastEnders and ‘Allo ‘Allo.

Hillary O’Neil, Cheryl Taylor and Mike Osman joined the show in 1986, with Mark Walker and New Faces winner Pauline Hannah added to the cast in 1987.
