This stop-motion animated series for preschoolers from Cosgrove Hall was broadcast on ITV between 1987 and 1989. Narration and character voices were provided by Paul Nicholas.
Stories followed the daily goings-on of a group of common insects and invertebrates that lived down at the bottom of a garden, near the shed, at the base of an old broken sundial that nobody wanted.
Regular characters included Mr Harrison (a snooty snail), Suppose (a red-nosed Northern worm), Ariadne (a posh spider), Anorak (an irksome pillbug, who was adamant he wasn’t a wood-louse), Lambeth (a brawny but brainless beetle), Ancient (an aged caterpillar) and Ladybird (three guesses!).
Not a lot happened, to be honest, but the sun rose and set behind that sundial 52 times in total.
