Jimmie Walker (Good Times) and (American Werewolf in London) headed the cast of this comedy series set at Camp Tar Creek – a peacetime Army computer base in Texas, that was billed as something akin to the old Sergeant Bilko.
Walker played fast-talking Sergeant Val Valentine, with Naughton as his enterprising colleague from Company A, PFC Tony Baker.
Jourdan Fremin played the beautiful WAC, Roger Bowen was the Colonel, George Wyner was the company spy, and Joshua Mostel and John Vargas were soldiers.
Richard Jaeckel played Major Hawkins, an old warrior distressed over his assignment to a computer outfit. “Wars should be fought with bombs, guns, and bayonets, the way civilized man has always done,” he says in the series.
