Max (voiced by Sunny Besen Thrasher) is a young boy who loves plush toys. One day at the toy shop, Max spots an unusual animal toy – a monster with a purple body, pink face and cuffs on its wrists.
After buying the toy, Max finds a key and unlocks the cuffs. To his amazement, the plush toy grows into a six-foot-tall, live monster with an appetite for garbage.
Max names the creature “Monster” (voiced by Jeff McGibbon) and must now keep him a secret because if Monster Land learns that one of its dolls has come to life, it will be whisked back home through a dimensional doorway.
The evil Beastur (voiced by Dan Hennessey) has become aware of the Monster and is now trying to retrieve him.
Stories followed Max’s adventures with Monster and his efforts to keep him safe from Beastur (pictured below).
Also seen in the ABC series were Max’s older sister, Jill (Alyson Court), and his friend Chuckie (Stuart Stone).
