This Granada comedy series starred Maria Aitken as twice-divorced Kate Codd and Jill Bennett as recently-widowed Daisy Troop, two worldly-wise and much-married cousins who have enjoyed a string of well-heeled husbands but now find themselves in reduced circumstances and must join forces to face the hard times ahead together in Kate’s basement flat in Manchester (along with Kate’s pet snake, Sidney).
Luckily, the theatre-loving handyman Dave Roberts (Richard Walker) lives nearby and undertakes various jobs around the flat for the girls.
Joan Hickson guested as Kate’s houseboat-dwelling dowager mother, Lady Harriet.
