Broadcast on Sunday evenings at 7 pm, this “reality hour” from ABC came from the same team as That’s Incredible! and was aimed primarily at younger viewers.
It focused on the interesting and unusual in the animal world, with some animals appearing in the studio, and others featured in filmed segments. Segments ranged from documentary-style descriptions of little-known wild animals to stories about everyday pets that had been trained to perform extraordinary feats.
The principal humans on the hour series were Burgess Meredith (who may have qualified for the position because he had played The Penguin on Batman), Priscilla Presley, and Jim Stafford.
Joan Embry, a naturalist at the San Diego Zoo, oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, and underwater photographers Ron and Valerie Taylor also appeared regularly.
