This seven-part comedy series from ATV looked at Soho life through the eyes of likeable rogue Fiddler (Robin Nedwell) – who addressed himself direct to camera – and his cronies, Checkie (Larry Martyn) and The Bishop (Garfield Morgan).
The setting was the fictional Duke’s Court but the series was filmed in Silver Place, Soho, where the Sandwich Board sandwich bar became Ma’s cafe (with the interior rebuilt in detail at ATV’s Elstree studios) and fake strip club and betting shop facades were constructed in front of a block of flats.
Susan Valentine appeared as Fiddler’s girlfriend, Tina.
The amiable series – written by Keith Waterhouse – aired on Monday nights at 8.00 pm.
