8 x 30 minute episodes
This family-friendly comedy was created by Andy and Susan Borowitz (the creators of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) and produced by the Jim Henson Company.
Single dad Doug Brody (John Bedford Lloyd) was an easygoing office worker who was abducted by alien scientist Cookie (Margaret Trigg) – also a single parent. They fell in love and married, combining his earthly and her otherworldly families.
Doug’s kids were self-absorbed 14-year-old Heather (Paige Tiffany) and cute nine-year-old Adam (Chris Marquette). Her offspring were supercool teenage son Spit, rambunctious 10-year-old daughter Snizzy, and sarcastic baby Bobut, who acted as if he was the Emperor of the Universe – because he was.
Sally (Julie Dretzin) was the harried Nanny. The aliens were portrayed by life-sized muppets.
The show aired for two weeks on ABC during their Friday night TGIF block before being cancelled due to low ratings. The remainder of the episodes were later burned off in the kids’ lineup on Saturday mornings. The theme tune was by Todd Rundgren.
