This short-lived NBC sitcom starred Patti LaBelle as former singing star Chelsea Paige, who now runs a nightclub in Los Angeles.
She has a grown fashion designer daughter, Charisse (Vivica A Fox) but just can’t suppress her maternal instincts so she takes in two of her daughter’s friends – Jeff (Morris Chestnut) and Vidal (Duane Martin) – in an apartment building she owns.
Despite a cavalcade of guest musical artists including Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, MC Hammer, Dionne Warwick, Luther Vandross, Marky Mark (Mark Wahlberg), Bobby Brown, Boyz II Men, Mary J. Blige and TLC, the series did not perform well, consistently ranking in the bottom third of the Nielsen ratings.
