Edgar Allen Poe High School (in the town of Smiley Heights, USA) is named after the famous poet and horror story writer. The school is under an unknown supernatural force that affects the students who attend its haunted halls.
Freshmen Fitzgerald Crump (John Patrick White), Sarah (Linda Cardellini), Brian (Esteban Powell), and Lexi (Saadia Persad) frequently encountered the unknown at school and had to vanquish assorted monsters with very little help from the weird, all-knowing janitor, Arnie (Charles Fleischer) – who lived in the sub-basement of the school, accessed through a secret passageway in locker 13 – or their dour teacher Miss Dewberry (Laraine Newman).
Each week, the kids were threatened, terrified, grossed out and slimed – but never seriously hurt. All the graphic stuff happened to the monsters dispatched by the students.
Football players Kirk (Trey Alexander) and Buddy (Dave Ruby) were the school bullies.
This Saturday morning ABC kid’s show was based on the horror novels of the same name by Betsy Haynes.
