At 832 Church Street in an unnamed American city lived Eddie Murphy – not the comedian, but a young, idealistic and tender-hearted parole officer with the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (Michael Keaton) who believed in a psychological approach to dealing with his charges.
Stories followed Eddie’s mishaps as he attempted to prove his theory.
Regular characters in the short-lived CBS series included Murphy’s firm-but-fair supervisor, Blanche Nesbitt (Olivia Cole); hard-boiled veteran parole officers Charlie (Donnelly Rhodes) and Lucy (Donna Ponterotto) – Charlie warns Murphy, “Any time five or more parolees get talking, a bank’s gonna get robbed”; Assistant DA JoAnn Baker (Margot Rose); and parolees “Big” Walter Lewis (Ken Foree), Norm (Jack O’Leary) and Vinnie (Jonathan Banks).
