Argent was formed in 1969 by Rod Argent following the demise of The Zombies.
Their 1971 single Hold Your Head Up reached #5 in the UK and God Gave Rock & Roll To You (1973) was later covered by KISS.
Russ Ballard left in 1974 and was replaced by John Verity and John Grimaldi.
Later material became heavier and Argent strayed into the depths of prog rock before disbanding in 1976.
Bassist Jim Rodford later joined The Kinks. He passed away on 20 January 2018.
